Australian Pump Industries (Aussie Pumps) has recently dispatched a further four of its robust 6-inch heavy-duty trash pumps to Juba, the capital city of South Sudan. This urgent shipment underscores the critical need for enhanced flood mitigation capabilities in the region, where the United Nations is working tirelessly to safeguard the city and its inhabitants from the potentially devastating impact of the equatorial monsoon season.

These high-capacity Aussie Pumps will join an existing fleet of 25 similar units already deployed by the United Nations in Juba. Together, this significant pumping power is being strategically utilised to redirect the waters of the Nile River, a vital waterway that also poses a considerable flood risk during periods of intense rainfall. The addition of these four new pumps will provide a substantial boost to the UN's efforts, increasing their capacity to move an impressive 24,000 litres of water per minute, offering a crucial buffer against potential inundation and helping to keep the city safe.

Aussie Pumps highlighted the urgency of the situation, with the latest shipment being expedited via direct air freight to Africa. This rapid response demonstrates the company's commitment to agile and humanitarian-focused engineering, a principle they proudly uphold.

Mel Jansen, the Export Manager at Aussie Pumps, expressed the company's pride in supporting such a vital mission. "Working with the United Nations is a great privilege," he stated. "We’re proud of being able to help people in trouble, undergoing very tough climate conditions, with the ever-present threat of civil unrest adding to their challenges. To know that our pumps are directly contributing to the safety and well-being of the people of Juba during these critical times is something we are deeply committed to."

The pumps themselves, described by Aussie Pumps as being "wrapped up like mummies" for their protective journey, were carefully skidded for their air freight transport to Africa. This detail underscores the logistical efforts involved in ensuring that essential equipment reaches its destination swiftly and securely, ready for immediate deployment in the face of an imminent threat. The ongoing deployment of Aussie Pumps' heavy-duty trash pumps in Juba serves as a powerful illustration of how robust engineering and international collaboration can play a crucial role in mitigating the impact of severe weather events in vulnerable regions across the globe.
