Caro Flood Defence launches new rapid deployment air vent cover

Caro Flood Defence has launched Caro VentDry™, an innovative rapid-deployment flood vent cover designed to protect homes and commercial properties from one of the most overlooked sources of floodwater ingress: air vents and airbricks. The launch comes amid growing demand for practical property flood resilience measures as flooding continues to affect communities across the UK.

Air vents are a known vulnerability in flood protection. Caro VentDry™ has been thoughtfully engineered to provide a simple, dependable solution, combining a robust design with rapid deployment and a complete protective seal. By eliminating the need for moving components or time-sensitive installation processes, Caro VentDry™ delivers reliable performance and peace of mind when every moment counts.

The system consists of two components: a wall frame installed permanently around the existing vent opening by a competent installer, and a removable cover panel that can be stored nearby and deployed by the property occupant when a flood warning is issued. No tools or sealant are required at deployment. When the flood risk passes, the cover is removed and full ventilation is immediately restored.

The cover panel is manufactured from WCB (Waterproof Construction Board), a 100% waterproof board made from recycled PVC-U. Unlike passive airbrick solutions with moving parts, there is nothing to clog, jam, or require significant cleaning after a flood. The material will not absorb water, swell, or rot, and carries built-in antibacterial properties as standard. Internal testing demonstrated zero leakage over 48 hours of static water contact.

Caro VentDry™ is suitable for retrofit and new build applications and is available in three standard sizes, 150 x 150mm, 210 x 210mm and 250 x 250mm, designed to fit directly over the most common airbrick openings without modification to the surrounding brickwork.

Caro VentDry™ has been developed in line with the requirements of BS 851188-1:2019+A1:2021 and is intended for future certification testing. Caro Flood Defence holds KIWA Certificate

KA-25-1001 and remains the only UK manufacturer of a demountable flood defence barrier with products certified to this standard, covering the Caro Flood Defence Barrier WaterDoor and WaterWall configurations. Caro VentDry™ is not suitable for use over gas appliance vents.

Dave Lowe, Managing Director of Caro Group, said: "Air vents and airbricks are one of the weakest points in a building during a flood, yet they're often overlooked when property owners consider flood protection. We developed Caro VentDry™ to address that challenge with a solution that's simple to install, easy to deploy and allows essential ventilation to continue when there's no flood risk."
