Caro Group, manufacturer of Caro Flood Defence barriers and protection systems, has been awarded the Future Net Zero Platinum Award, providing verified carbon credentials for installers and homeowners seeking to reduce environmental impact.

The Platinum certification, awarded by Future Net Zero in partnership with the UNFCCC Race to Zero campaign, recognises Caro Group's 81.3% reduction in carbon emissions since beginning its net zero journey in 2018. The company achieved Gold Award status in early 2025 and accelerated its programme to reach Platinum level within twelve months. The award covers the entire manufacturing operation, including the foundry where Caro Flood Defence products are manufactured.

"Every Caro Flood Defence barrier installed now actively reduces carbon emissions," said Dave Lowe, Group Managing Director. "This isn't marketing language – it's independently verified, measurable carbon reduction. Whether you're an installer working on commercial flood protection projects or a homeowner protecting your property, you're choosing products made to the highest environmental standards."

Installers and specifiers can now demonstrate measurable emissions reduction through supplier selection, while homeowners gain assurance that protecting their property doesn't come at the planet's expense.

Caro Group's manufacturing facility has undergone a comprehensive transformation to achieve Platinum status. All energy contracts have been switched to renewable sources, low-powered machinery has replaced older equipment, and the vehicle fleet now includes multiple electric and hybrid vehicles.

The company's logistics operations achieve 85% carbon-neutral delivery through partnerships with carbon-offsetting courier services. Manufacturing processes have been optimised with all pattern makers, core makers, and finishing contractors located within a 10-mile radius of the foundry to minimise transportation emissions.

The Future Net Zero Platinum Award represents the highest tier of certification, requiring comprehensive measurement, reporting, and verified reduction of carbon emissions across all scopes. Independent assessors verify all data using the WBCSD-WRI Greenhouse Gas Protocol.

Caro Group's sister companies, Caro Flow (roof drainage systems), Caro Systems (pedestal and support systems) and Maybrey Precision Castings, also operate from the same foundry, with all products now carrying Platinum-level environmental credentials.

Caro Flood Defence product specifications, technical data sheets, and carbon reduction documentation are available at caro.co.uk. The company's Future Net Zero certification can be verified at futurenetzero.com.
