Congratulations to the team at Isle of Wight Council for their recent win at the Constructing Excellence SECBE Awards!

The Ventnor Eastern Esplanade Sea Defence project clinched the prestigious award as category winner for Integration and Collaborative Working.

Over the past 12 months, their £4.8 million investment in cutting-edge sea defences has provided protection to homes and businesses for many years to come.

In addition, the safety barriers which had been in place since November 2022, have now been removed, opening up a vital walking and cycling route between Ventnor and Bonchurch.

The team worked tirelessly to expertly backfill and cap over 150 'king posts' across the foreshore, capping them with concrete to encase the aging sheet piles, all against the challenge of an incredibly challenging autumn/winter weather-wise!

The award recognises the close collaboration that made this project happen. Isle of Wight Council, Mackley, Coastal Partners, the Environment Agency, Jacobs, Southern Water, Island Roads and Ventnor Town Council.

What a team! Congratulations from us here at Flood Industry.
